2009 Revenge of the Jump Offs By Stiletto Jill
December 16th, 20092009 Revenge of the Jump Offs: Chick 2B Strikes back
2009 will go down as the year Jump offs and side chicks struck back! Just a quick look over some of the indiscretions that made headlines this year cements the fact that sports and side pieces go hand in hand.
The popular conversation amongst many once you move past the obvious “they shouldn’t be cheating to begin with”. Is the idea that these men need to choose someone that has “just as much to lose as they do” So while others have given their rules of engagement for the cheating athlete. I will provide you with my explanation as to why most of these theories won’t work at all.
Let’s start with the idea that they should pick someone who has as much to lose as they do. Who exactly would that be? From a financial standpoint, there aren’t many women whose salaries are on par with that of a professional athlete. Somehow Oprah doesn’t fit the typical look of Side chick #2.
Ok, so money isn’t the only thing people have to lose right? Family and social status matters too. Yeah you see how well that worked out in Shaq & Laura Govon’s case (fiancé and baby’s mother to NBA player Gilbert Arenas). She had a lot to lose and yet there she was pressing Shaq for dates they’d be able to link up. Guess she wasn’t too worried about losing her baller in hand for Cactus Shaq.
Next the common thought you hear is well what do you expect from strippers, waitresses, interns and party girls? Of course they’re going to tell. Pick a female with a career.
Allow me to let you in on a little secret. 1 of the reason why customer service chicks are such a popular choice (outside of the obvious, accessibility) is that athletes have a lot of down time. LOTS & LOTS of down time. So when they’re bored, they need someone that come over, hop on a plane etc at a moments notice. A female working a 9-5 with limited vacation time isn’t going to have the flexibility to jump on that 7:30 flight and its 3:15 just because she received that “Bring me that” text.
Quite honestly, this is what it comes down too. Being available to soothe and stroke their egos. People have this idea that all the athlete wants is New Pu$$Y and that is without a doubt true. But, once you’ve sampled a few times, it should become a regular old cracker. Not that buttery delicious Ritz it was when he first met her (I stole that analogy from a comedian, I want to say it was Chris Rock but I can’t remember)
The point I’m trying to make is this, if it were only about the thrill of the new new, there would probably be whole lot more random women and a lot less text messages and repeat trips. So ultimately, what is the cheating really about…?
