Studies show that women are now surpassing men in the world of Adultry..are you suggesting that all the men that have been cheated on should attack thier wives relentlessly with a golf club as Elin did. You state that "Now woman hitting men is bad as well,"…grow up..peeing on yourself when you are a potty trained toddler is "bad" attacking your husband for any reason besides self defense (and in most states the only amount of force allowed ina self defense case is only enough to remove youself from the situation.) what Elin did was a CRIME!!! Until women understand that there are certain rights you recieve with equality but there are certain taken away also, then men will continue to not respect you, divorce rates will continue to skyrocket and the only parties that will truly be affecte is YOUR CHILDREN!!

The point is not wether there was equal damage done, the point is that the double standards exist, and what women CANNOT get through thier estrogen driven brains is that if you dole out double standards men will dole them out to you as well. Chris Brown was charged an convicted of a Felony assault. What the author of this article is stating is that Elin got off scott free…no Felony, no misdemeanor domestic violent assault charge. Thre amount of physical damage only determines the severity of the punishment, but some punishment should have been given.

Without the pictures it is hard to say this is a double standard. Chris Brown beat the shit out of Rhianna. For a man to hit a woman, unless she is trying to kill you or hits you in the nuts, isn't right no matter how bad it is or isn't.

Now woman hitting men is bad as well, especially if there is a weapon involved. However I think men are starting to become to sensitive now-a-days and are looking to point our how many things are unfair to them when some of the stuff just comes with being a man. While I do agree there is a double standard in the media's eyes when it comes to how men are treated as aggressors and women are always the victims, comparing these two cases without pictures of how bad it really was, is impossible.

This is a societal issue that my site is starting to jump into. After years of feminism putting men down men do need to stand up for themselves and the fact that Tiger isn't putting pictures or interviews out there that prove he was hit or assaulted, for reasons other than men's rights and which i can understand, doesn't help the men's rights movement out any.

Totally agree. BTW – I think women need to be careful with this double standard. It's not OK for domestic violence to appear on any level, but to condone her actions and say he got what was coming to him in the form of I'm guessing several slaps and an attempt golf club attack clearly is something that should not be praised. Vanessa Bryant handled it differently, Shawnee O'Neil, Juanita Jordan and countless others. As women we need to concretely identify ourselves with non domestic violence on any level. This "he cheated on her so he got what he deserved" is sexaul bigorty and just plain old ignorant. I wonder if Rihanna cheated on Chris, would you still think she got what she deserved? Probably not. Can't have it both ways, now can you??????

Women can be just as violent as men. I watch that show snapped regularly. Women can become violent over all types of situation, especially against their husband. Domestic violence against men should be taken seriously of you can have a Dieidra Lane(Fred Lane) or Brynn Hartman(Phil Hartman) situation..

Society seems to have a horrifying double standard when it comes to domestic abuse. Any violence against women is a crime and never justified, but any violence against men is usually because 'he deserved it.' Read a book called "When She Was Bad" by Patricia Pearson. Studies have shown that a violent woman will usually use a weapon (like a golf club) to attack a man, which brings a higher likelihood of killing the victim. If Tiger Woods continues to deny the reality of what happened (has anyone wondered how come his wife broke the BACK window to rescue him?), he is not really being much of a role model. Think of all the other abused husbands who might have an easier time standing up to the abuse if a public figure like Woods could admit to what was going on. I wonder if Oprah will give as much negative air time to Woods' wife as she did to Chris Brown. Violence of any kind is never justified and needs to be stopped.

Where did you read that she is justified because of the betrayal? It was merely stating that she reacted based on his betrayal. It is what it is. Violence is never the answer, but it happens. Everyone does things in the heat of the moment and sometimes there are serious consequences to it that they have to live with.

by saying she was justified because of the betrayal is ridiculous. If Chris Brown was provoked, as so many people claim, he was justified as well? I don't think so – violence is violence. Rihanna could have died and so could Tiger. I don't care what he says about himself, he doesn't deny that he's black, he just doesn't play it up and that's his choice. But to think that black women, or people would say he deserves this is just ridiculous. A mother could have lost a son, two babies could have lost their father. The double standard exists because people won't do what's necessary to change it.

Excellent article, very well put. My thoughts as well, but I'd like to add this. It's not for sure that this lie of saving his life was all her doing. We all know there is some kind of cover up going on so the lie very well could have be concocted by others. Also, I don't like the fact that you say she went "crazy", most likely it was a REACTION to the BETRAYAL with a temporary lapse of judgment from her and she doesn't harbor the hurt of the betrayal inside that she kills him in his sleep/poison his food/or hire an assasin. After the car crash they both probably realized how bad this could be for his career (remembering Chris Brown) and wanted to do damage control. It is definitely a double of standard depending on who you are in our society. We are NEVER going to get away from it. We all know again that everybody's Glass Bubble can break.
